    stephanie + don: promontory point, chicago wedding

    now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story no one on earth has ever read, which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before // c.s. lewis

    word’s fail me as i try to sum up the honour of photographing stephanie + don’s magical wedding day. it is becoming increasingly more known to me just how incredibly sacred and beautiful marriage is. on this day, the culmination of thousands of days before it: of stephanie and her family, of don and his. growing up in different parts of the country, having their paths finally cross in illinois, having their relationship take them to different ends of the globe. thousands of days leading to this rainy sunday in chicago, in which they vowed their hearts and lives to one another in front of 30 close friends & family. and yet this day was really only the start of their new chapter.
    words fail me, so i will let the pictures tell their story:

    if i had a penny for every time i said dang it is just SO PRETTY out here, i can’t get over it!! then i would definitely have $2. steve and cassie were married under the tall trees surrounding zaca lake, a remote ranch 30 minutes into the mountains and away from town, cellphone reception and the shade-less 104 degree heat. i know i say it often but i hope i never stop—it is such a huge, humbling honor to be able to walk alongside families and couples on such an important piece of time. for steve and cassie, this wedding has been seven years in the making, and like their save the dates & wedding signs declared: finally! these two started their married lives in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by family and friends, danced under the twinkly stars surrounded by the local bears (yes!) and deer, and are now off adventuring in  the motherland—italy :) my hope + prayer is that these pictures encapsulate the joy and fun and love between these two and the story of the day they became husband and wife:
